  • A Pain-free Brazilian???

This is for the newbies who've hesitantly booked their first Brazilian wax and are awaiting their appointment with dread. This is for the veterans who've been getting waxed consistently but find themselves with a low pain threshold (but oddly enough, are tatted up with the most incredible art...no judgment lol, but an eyebrow is raised). And, finally, this is for the girlies that only get waxed on special occasions because the pain keeps them from coming every four weeks. If I were to tell you that the more you get Brazilians, eventually they will be painless, then I would be a liar. It's July, in North Carolina. It's hot enough as it is, I don't need the added heat from my pants being on fire. For a MORE COMFORTABLE waxing experience, all you have to do are two very simple things. There is an optional third step, but that happens after the appointment. Drink plenty of water. When your skin is dehydrated, the follicles will have a tendency to contract, forming a tighter seal around hair. This makes the hair more difficult (and more painful) to pull with the wax. When the skin is properly hydrated, the follicle is in it's normal, "relaxed" state, making removing the hair much easier. Take a pain-reliever such as ibuprofen, prior to the waxing appointment...for obvious reasons. This is will dull the sensation of pain and help you to be more relaxed during the waxing. Sometimes, anticipating that there will be pain will cause you to tense up and we want you to be as loosey goosey as possible. To help achieve this state of being, jokes will be cracked. And Haha's are much better in the treatment room than Boohoo's. You know what the wise ones say: Laughter is the best medicine And finally (this is optional and only for the 21+ girlies), if you need to reward yourself for having survived another Brazilian Wax, have a glass of wine or two. Perhaps a cocktail is more your speed? It is normal for there to be a little pinpoint bleeding when being waxed. lf you were to drink alcohol before your appointment, there could be a little more as alcohol thins the blood. So maybe don't book a Brazilian wax after brunch with the ladies (you know, the one with the bottomless mimosas...now both eyebrows are raised). Because, if you do (what's that one movie with Daniel Day-Lewis), There Will Be Blood. And what we are wanting to achieve when you come in for your appointment (and the whole point of this post) is for you to be comfortable and relaxed and too the pain as much as possible. Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any questions or share some of your tips for a less painful waxing appointment.
